About Amal Dalmar

Amal Dalmar is a filmmaker, creative consultant, and cultural strategist whose work sits at the intersection of storytelling, social impact, and community building. She brings a rare blend of human rights expertise, grassroots organizing, and visual storytelling to every creative project she leads.

Raised near an international border in San Diego, California; shaped by migration and displacement, Amal’s worldview was influenced early by questions of identity, justice, and belonging. This foundation led her to earn her JD from UC Law San Francisco and an LLM from the University of London (SOAS), where she focused on global human rights and the systemic forces shaping marginalized communities.

Before stepping fully into filmmaking, Amal spent years as an organizer, working alongside community groups, youth leaders, and advocacy organizations. This work instilled in her a community-centered approach to storytelling, one grounded in care, integrity, and cultural responsibility.

Amal later expanded her creative practice through digital storytelling, producing identity-driven content for BuzzFeed and building narratives that resonated with global audiences. Her storytelling experience extends to international development: she provided creative and narrative strategic consulting for Global Communities, supporting intersectional programs, culturally rooted communication initiatives, and cross-regional storytelling frameworks that uplifted local leadership and community voices.

She is also the co-creator and producer of the critically acclaimed documentary series Dinner Insha-Allah?, which explores the intersection of Muslim American identity through community-building, identity, politics and food.

Today, Amal brings these experiences together through her creative consulting practice, helping multi-passionate creatives, founders, and purpose-driven brands find clarity, develop aligned narratives, and build impactful creative ventures. Her work blends storytelling, strategy, and social consciousness, guiding people and organizations to create with intention, authenticity, and deep cultural awareness.
